The Birth of a Notion

Picture
Many notions start out small.  More often than not they are a nothing more than a fleeting whimsy. The ones that keep coming back tend to get larger and more elaborate over time. These are the ones that we tend to nurture. Often as daydreams that get us through tedious tasks or discouraging days.

Some notions become our little pet projects. The ones where we say "Someday I would like to jump from an airplane for no reason". Or "I want to learn how to play the didgeridoo but I am just too busy right now". These are the open ended ones with no pressure or responsibility. The notions that we can choose to pursue at our leisure or replace with fresh new ones. Then there are those thoughts and ideas that become much more than notions. Ones that consume more and more of our thoughts. Often, to the point of distraction. This site was born out of a combination of a restless imagination and some much needed motivation. I have lost countless thoughts  and ideas that were jotted or sketched on bits of paper and the backs of junk mail envelopes. This is the place for them to have a home.

The picture above is one of those notions that became a reality. It was taken in the summer of 2008. The beginning of a home for my wife Krista and me. A home on the Wallace river, a place that has always been a big part of my physical and mental geography. So it is from here that I write this. Thus the site name. If you have read this far you must be very patient or very curious. Either way, feel free to look around.
